Best Case Worst Case – Neurology Video - The Best Case/Worst Case (BC/WC) framework is a communication tool to support health care practitioners in presenting high-stakes medical decisions to patients and care partners. The tool consists of a conversational framework accompanied by a graphic aid. Best Case/Worst Case - Neurology adapts this framework to address the unique needs of patients with severe neurological illness, where long-term functional outcomes are often very uncertain. This video instructs providers on how to use the Best Case/Worst Case tool to ensure patients and families receive goal-concordant care in the face of prognostic uncertainty. The video can also be incorporated into communication skills curricula.
